3 minute read

As an HR professional, a significant portion of my time is devoted to coaching, developing and advising others on their careers.

Anticipating my next career move, I had a clear vision of where I wanted to go and how to get there - the Chief of Staff role. Consequently, I made a deliberate decision to participate in the Chief of Staff Executive Education Programme at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School and joined the Chief of Staff Association, an experience that has proven to be exceptionally impactful.

As I sit down to pen my thoughts about my recent experience in Oxford, I find myself filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude.

Choosing excellence

As a lifelong learner, selecting the right executive education programme at the right institution is critical. For me, Oxford’s Saïd Business School stood out for its esteemed faculty, comprehensive curriculum and a strong emphasis on practical application.

The Chief of Staff Executive Education Programme not only met but surpassed my expectations. The well-structured programme offered a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights. Time swiftly passed with engaging lectures, enlightening discussions with faculty, special guests and valuable interactions with fellow participants.

It began with an environmental scan where we discussed 21st century challenges and ended with an unforgettable interactive leadership workshop in Oxford’s Balliol College. I have outlined my learnings in an article about the importance of harmony in leadership.

Enriching my experience further, I immersed myself in the scenic walking tours and savoured the rich history infused in the college dinners at Oxford, making it a truly enjoyable and harmonious journey.

From phone call to joyous celebration

On a personal and professional level, the programme has been transformative, particularly for my career. It was at Saïd Business School that I received a call offering me a Chief of Staff position at a tech startup. 'Look at where you are' were the words that were said to me as I accepted the role.

This programme helped propel my career forward, and the celebration came from my exceptional colleagues in the cohort. They surprised me with a thoughtful gift and card, underscoring the importance of support.

Forging relationships in a new professional chapter

Embarking on this new journey, I express gratitude for the relationships forged with my fellow cohort members and the network we've built.

The relationships forged during the programme are invaluable. My fellow cohort members and the extensive network we built have become a source of ongoing support as I embark on this new professional chapter. Grateful for the personal growth, lasting connections, and invaluable lessons, I wholeheartedly recommend the programme.

I eagerly anticipate applying my newfound knowledge and skills in my role, confident that this transformative programme has equipped me for success in the ever-evolving professional landscape. Join me in embracing a learning journey that transcends boundaries and propels careers to new heights.
