As an HR professional, a significant portion of my time is devoted to coaching, developing and advising others on their careers.

Anticipating my next career move, I had a clear vision of where I wanted to go and how to get there - the Chief of Staff role. Consequently, I made a deliberate decision to participate in the Chief of Staff Executive Education Programme at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School and joined the Chief of Staff Association, an experience that has proven to be exceptionally impactful.

As I sit down to pen my thoughts about my recent experience in Oxford, I find myself filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude.

It began with an environmental scan where we discussed 21st century challenges and ended with an unforgettable interactive leadership workshop in Oxford’s Balliol College. I have outlined my learnings in an article about the importance of harmony in leadership.

Enriching my experience further, I immersed myself in the scenic walking tours and savoured the rich history infused in the college dinners at Oxford, making it a truly enjoyable and harmonious journey.

On a personal and professional level, the programme has been transformative, particularly for my career. It was at Saïd Business School that I received a call offering me a Chief of Staff position at a tech startup. 'Look at where you are' were the words that were said to me as I accepted the role.

This programme helped propel my career forward, and the celebration came from my exceptional colleagues in the cohort. They surprised me with a thoughtful gift and card, underscoring the importance of support.
