The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organisation that delivers an objectives-based programme for massively scalable, seed-stage, science and technology based companies.

Its programme pairs founders with experienced entrepreneurs and investors to set focused, measurable objectives with the goal of maximising equity value creation. Founded in 2012 by Professor Ajay Agrawal at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the programme has now expanded with locations in nine business schools around the world.

Launched in 2019 at Saïd Business School, Creative Destruction Lab Oxford is the first CDL site in Europe and offers two streams:

  1. Artificial Intelligence Stream - designed to support startups predicated on the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  2. Health Stream designed to help technical teams bring their medical and biological innovations to market by providing access to accomplished business mentors, health experts, scientists, and investors. This stream will accept founders pursuing commercial opportunities predicated on translational science and technology innovations in the fields of health, medical, and life sciences.

The 9-month programme includes 4 full-day, on-site sessions focused on objective setting and culminates in a 'Super Session' that brings together the most promising ventures from across all CDL sites.

With CDL we are taking the next step to support world-class scientific research and innovation across the UK and Europe.

CDL: Build Something Massive

Student Programme

The Student Programme is designed to expose students to the world of entrepreneurship and provide an opportunity to interact with early-stage, science-based companies. Students work with technical founders admitted to the Creative Destruction Lab programme (CDL) on bespoke projects. The programme introduces students to the context, decision-making principles, and practices of equity investing for supporting the growth and development of early-stage high-potential technology ventures.
