The Oxford Saïd sports team dominated the 2023 MBAT HEC Tournament, bringing home the gold trophy and securing their place as tournament champions.
The win is the School’s fifth consecutive MBAT title, sealing an historic victory for the 194-member team. They dominated in the first two days of the competition, with memorable wins in rowing, badminton, swimming, and dance. By the evening of day three, it was clear the team were the tournament winner, scoring 685 points over rivals HEC Paris, who trailed with 644 points.
The MBAT Tournament is the largest assembly of MBA students in the world. This year's event was its largest gathering, with over 1500 students competing from over 15 of Europe's top business schools across various sporting and cultural events.
Zachary Dedekind, who led the Oxford Saïd MBA team, described the atmosphere: 'The energy was electric, and the entire event was a unifying experience for our cohort, who turned out to support each other through cheering, first aid attention, and competing in extra events as needed. A rotating cheer squad would bounce from event to event with coordinated cheers. Like a magnet, the cheer squad would pick up Oxford students as they finished their events, growing bigger and bigger until a crowd of 80-100 raucous supporters would turn up to events, willing the team to win.’
