Robert Poynton leads sessions on Executive Education Leadership Programmes using a participative improvisational method to create a rapid and rich learning environment and to give participants an experience of key ideas and themes in leadership.

Since 2008, Robert has played the role of tutor on the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme; this involves facilitating a small group of participants through the experience of the programme in order to help them make personal connections and maximise the value of their week at Egrove. For May 2018 he will be Co-Programme Director of the programme. He has also been involved in Leading Across Boundaries for Standard Chartered Bank and has taught strategy implementation on the Executive MBA Programme.

Robert is Co-Founder of On Your Feet, a boutique consultancy that uses ideas, tools, methods and knowledge from improvisational theatre in the world of business and organisations; clients include Intel, Disney, NBCU, GE, Apple, Nike and Orange. Robert also acts as a collaborator and consultant for eatbigfish, a challenger brand consultancy whose clients include Ikea, Pepsi, South African Breweries and London 2012 (Cultural Olympiad).

Robert's background is in advertising as a strategic or account planner, working in agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi and Bartle Bogle Hegarty in London; he was also Account Planning Director for JWT in Spain and Latin America. In 1994 he helped found a virtual, distributed brand consultancy called Red Spider, working for clients such as Wired Magazine, GM/Saturn, Lucas Film and VW. He won the IPA effectiveness award, silver, in 1990.

Robert's research interests are in improvisation, complexity and sustainability. He has written a book entitled Everything’s an Offer. On Your Feet. and has had a number of articles about improvisational theatre published in Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies.

Robert has a BA Honours Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Oxford University.
