Finance industry support

Progress your career in finance

Our finance faculty includes leading academics, practitioners and policy makers who play important roles in research & policy making around the world.

The financial services industry has seen dramatic changes since the credit crisis and collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008. The ensuing regulatory response to the crisis, the continued disruptive nature of Fintech and the shifting geopolitical backdrop means the financial services landscape continues to see huge changes. With this comes big opportunity and challenges – MBA students wanting to advance their careers in the finance industry need to be more open-minded, better connected and more technically skilled than ever before.

Faculty

You will benefit from the world-class research being generated by the many international experts who teach at Saïd Business School. Our faculty is at the heart of the University of Oxford’s finance research activities, which means you also profit from close collaboration with other departments including Economics and Law, the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, the Private Equity Institute and the Centre’s for Business Taxation and Corporate Reputation.

Programme

With such a versatile academic body, Oxford can legitimately claim to offer one of the most extensive ranges of finance electives available in any business school. Unique to our programme is the fact that we offer joint electives with the Business School’s MFE students, therefore bringing together a diverse range of talents, backgrounds and experience into the classroom.

Practical skills

If you are looking to progress your career in investment banking, private equity, or asset management (including impact investing), the Oxford Saïd Finance Lab, the Asset Management Masterclass, and the Impact Finance Lab are undisputed highlights. These extracurricular courses will give you the advantage of practical financial modelling, valuation training, and an ability to learn from industry experts and practitioners, as well as providing essential networking for potential recruitment opportunities.
