'How business leaders find ways to make effective and appropriate use of AI, however, is still very much an open question. There’s a huge potential upside, but also many potential risks and pitfalls for executives to navigate. This programme is all about helping leaders grapple with these challenges, find new opportunities to create value with data and AI, and, ultimately, accelerate the digital transformation of their organisations,' Professor Andrew Stephen explained.
Non-technical professionals will be able to find out how the technologies are created, selected, deployed, managed and governed. The programme will cover analytics and machine learning as well as considering how AI is currently in use across businesses and the spectrum of business activity. This includes areas such as social listening, customer support agents and big data analysis.
With this grounding, professionals will go on to gain experience participating in AI related decision making from a leadership perspective.
Focused on one of the world’s most rapidly developing fields, the programme taught by Oxford Saïd’s world leading faculty, will also speculate on the potential future of AI.
‘No-one in business can really afford to not be aware of this remarkable change in the fabric of daily commercial life - but at the same time, there is a good deal of hype in the market, and AI is not a fix-all tool,’ explained Alex Connock, Co-Academic Director of the diploma programme.
‘So this course aims to equip executives with the fundamentals, so that they can lead their organisations with intelligent, reasoned and properly costed options in the AI field with confidence.’
Starting in February 2021, the diploma goes beyond the technical fundamentals and equips leaders with the expertise to navigate ethical issues, privacy and strategies for stakeholder buy-in.
The part-time programme will be delivered over a year with a blend of in person modules and remote study. From the first week of the programme, executives will be able to practically apply their learning to add value to both their own career paths and their organisations.
