Huy Nguyen Trieu

Profile

Huy has been a lecturer on the Oxford Fintech Programme at the School and he teaches about innovation models in finance. 

Outside the School, Huy is the CEO of The Disruptive Group, a business builder in innovation and finance, co-founder of the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, and founding Partner of the Asian SuperCharger.

Huy has navigated between start-ups and large organisations, from tech CEO to managing director in international banks. He is fascinated by the changes happening around us, the impact of technology on many industries, and the changing dynamics between small and large organisations.

He started his career as an entrepreneur and co-founded Ukibi, a precursor of LinkedIn. After five years, he moved into the world of finance where he helped to build high-growth businesses, with his last position as Head of Insurance Structuring at Citi in London.

Huy dedicates considerable time to helping industry grow via his blog, Disruptive Finance. He is a member of the European Securities and Markets Authority’s Consultative Working Group for financial innovation, and a Board advisor to Expon Capital.

Huy is a frequent keynote speaker in Europe and Asia and he is regularly quoted in articles on innovation and finance.

In his role as an entrepreneur expert, Huy mentors students, particularly engineers and techies who need advice on business, marketing or fundraising.

Huy is a graduate of MIT (US), École Polytechnique (France) and ENPC (France).
