Profile

An Oxford graduate, Grant has been Industry Advisor for Commercial Banking and Finance at Saïd Business School since 2007.

Grant is also a growth expert lead for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses UK Programme.

This followed a 29-year career with the Barclays group, serving in the UK and overseas. His last overseas role was as Caribbean Director, based in Barbados. UK roles included Managing Director of Barclays Unicorn (asset management), and Managing Director of Barclays Agricultural Banking Division during the 2001 foot and mouth crisis.

As Communications and Training Director for the group’s Corporate Banking Euro Programme, at the launch of the euro, Grant was one of the bank’s euro experts, presenting on TV and radio and at over 100 business conferences. His last role was Director for Strategy and Marketing for the bank’s Corporate Banking Middle Market strategic business unit.

Grant has a particular interest in leadership development in the charitable sector, focusing on the challenges of post-2008 funding, governance and crisis management.

As an active member of Oxfordshire Charity Mentors, Grant undertakes one-to-one mentoring roles with charity CEOs, with an increasing focus on CEO/trustee board relationships.
