Profile

Dr Alex Connock is a Fellow in Management Practice (Marketing), and works with the Future of Marketing Initiative.

Academically, his field is digital branded content and media entrepreneurship.  As well as his role at the Saïd Business School, he is also Senior Tutor at the National Film and Television School in creative entrepreneurship, visiting professor at Salford university, Entrepreneur in Residence at INSEAD and creative leader in residence at UCLAN. He has a PhD in video optimisation for e-commerce. He also has degrees from Oxford (PPE), Columbia (Master’s in Journalism) and INSEAD (MBA). 

Commercially, Alex has substantial media industry contact through a 30-year career in the TV and digital content businesses - through a sequence of production companies. He produced TV and radio programming in the 1990s for Planet 24, co-founded Ten Alps and ran it until 2011, then ran Endemol Shine North until 2017 and now Missile Digital Studios. Production businesses he has run have produced content for BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Channel 5, the UK government, US and international broadcasters, many major advertisers and social platforms. He has also worked with international stars such as Idris Elba, Bob Geldof and others. He has six times been shortlisted as Entrepreneur of the Year. 

He is also board director at UNICEF UK and The Halle Orchestra and an Academy full member at BAFTA.
