I was very fortunate when I was young to visit the University of Oxford and I was so inspired seeing the architecture of the schools and also seeing the joy from people's faces when they're graduating. It was really a scene that stuck to my mind. I am Caitlin Zhang, I studied the Oxford MBA in 2017 to 2018. I work at LinkedIn APAC leading the customer success and strategy operations team. I think about strategies that are able to bring the most value to our customers and implementing the strategies that will bring our organisation forward. Before the MBA, I was working at PwC Consulting in Singapore and I think I was at a decision point of either further invest in this career and going all in, or maybe expand a bit further and that's where the MBA was piquing my interest maybe this is a time to invest in my studies and expose myself to more things. One part of the experience that was very unique to me was the Consulting club where we got to practise how we solve a case in a structured way with other classmates. That is still the number one skill I'm currently using in my role. I had classmates from the US, Ireland, UK, India, China, Japan that helped to give me this cultural context that is definitely playing into a big role into my current responsibility of managing stakeholders from all over the world. One of my favourite places in Oxford was the Radcliffe Camera library where you have the beautiful dome on top and thinking of like all these past great wisdoms that came from this place and I was able to be part of the atmosphere and embrace all the academic challenges and definitely felt the freedom of going deep and wide with knowledge there. I think that was something that was really unique and special. Post-MBA, I worked in Dublin for Facebook, now Meta, for three years. A few things brought me back to Singapore. First, is the draw of LinkedIn. I heard about the amazing culture and the exciting product that is being developed at LinkedIn so I was definitely curious. Second is, Singapore felt close to home. It was my second home. For me, the job opportunity here is really great. A lot of tech companies and various industries are fast-growing and they are heavily invested in Singapore. The experience of the Oxford MBA and the work experiences following that became a very transferable currency for me to bring back from Europe to here.
