Irene Tracey, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford: Good leadership is essential in an ever-changing and complex world. You know it when you experience it, but it's not something easily defined. As Vice-Chancellor at the University of Oxford, I am proud of the many influential leaders we have produced and given to the world over our 900-year history. There are many forms of leadership, and each leader has to find their own unique and authentic style to be effective in a global society that faces so many complex as well as exciting challenges. Soumitra Dutta, Dean of Saïd Business School: Leadership is at the heart of all that we do at the Saïd Business School. For over 25 years, we have been educating and forming leaders who have a positive impact on the world around them. Professor Roger Goodman, Warden of St Antony's College: The site is the site of the former 19th-century coal-fired power station. One of the main excitements about this project is taking a coal-fired power station from the late 19th century and turning it into a carbon neutral centre for executive education. We are installing air source heat pumps and solar panels. The architects, John McAslan & Partners, are award-winning architects. We are retaining three of the four facades, as well as a large amount of the industrial archaeology in the building, such as some of the cranes which were used in the original power station, and I think that will give it a fabulous feel for the project. It both will be retaining the history of the building, at the same time as being a thoroughly up-to-date, modern, technologically advanced centre for executive education. Soumitra Dutta: The Global Leadership Centre is of course a wonderful renovation of an amazing historic building in Oxford. But it is much more than that. It is also an amazing space for education, convening and retreat. It'll also allow us to really forge the future of education, to combine the physical with the digital and to continue the Oxford tradition of inspiring and bringing fresh perspectives to international challenges and opportunities. We are so grateful to all of you who are supporting this project. We could not achieve our vision without you. The Global Leadership Centre will open in 2025. There are still many opportunities to partner with us to realise our ambitious vision. If you're interested in finding out more, please do come and talk to us.
