About us

We are a diverse, equitable and inclusive learning community of academics, practitioners and students from around the world.

We are backed by the Skoll Foundation, an organisation that connects, invests in and celebrates social entrepreneurs and innovators around the world.

Launched in 2003, we were one of the pioneers of social entrepreneurship education and research within the business education sector.

Today, we pioneer global learning in Social Entrepreneurship, Systems Change and Knowledge Equity.

We achieve this through world-class education programmes, action-centred research and catalytic collaborations.

Through this, we are playing our part to develop the next generation of systems leaders to transform unjust systems and help address the world’s greatest environmental and social challenges.

  • We believe that entrepreneurs do more than build ventures - they reimagine what's possible and work to build the future.
  • We believe that a systems mindset, rooted in equity, is instrumental in driving innovation and transformational change.
  • We believe 'there is a Malala and Mandela in every community'* and that by unlocking human potential we can create a just, fair and equitable future.

Harnessing the power of our networks

We believe we can have the greatest impact by connecting people and ideas, bridging learning and practice and bringing together communities.

We provide opportunities for our students to engage with, learn from and support the world’s leading and emerging practitioners in the field.

The Skoll Centre is uniquely situated between two key partners: the University of Oxford and the Skoll Foundation. We draw on the strengths of each and bridge the gap between the academic and practitioner worlds.

Global reach for social entrepreneurship

Our research and community are global in scope. We use the power of our networks to magnify the work of our researchers, students and wider community beyond local and national boundaries.

Our theory of change

Three pillars; Education, Research and Community

Our theory of change diagram walks through how our impact in the world is achieved. In order to tackle systemic injustice and wicked problems, we play our part by being an engine of knowledge and practice focusing on our activities within three pillars:

  1. Education
  2. Research
  3. Community.

Skoll Centre

Launched in 2003, the Skoll Centre was founded with a generous grant from the Skoll Foundation. The following year, we welcomed the first Skoll Scholars and hosted the first Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship. Run by the Skoll Foundation, this event is held annually at Saïd Business School.

Skoll Foundation

The Skoll Foundation, founded by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Jeff Skoll in 1999, invests in, connects and celebrates social entrepreneurs and the innovators who help them solve the world's most pressing problems.

The Skoll Foundation is a strong strategic partner and advisor of the Skoll Centre but the two are separate entities.
