Partners and families

A supportive network to help your family transition into Oxford life

Families are very welcome at Saïd Business School. If you are planning to be here a while, why not bring them with you?

Many students move to Oxford with their children and spouse/partner for the duration of their degree programme. There are many resources available to help you find a place to live, choose a nursery or schooling for children and to explore funding options.

Once you arrive in Oxford we provide a supportive, stimulating environment to help make your time here enriching and memorable for you and your family. Saïd Business School organises social activities throughout the year for partners and families, including a welcome reception at the beginning of the academic year for families to get to know each other and a special children’s Christmas party.

Oxford Business Alumni Network

Visit the alumni network

Launched in 1998, the OBA Network brings together individuals who share a common interest in business, ensuring an active network of emotionally and intellectually engaged alumni who support and further the School’s vision, and serve as proud ambassadors around the globe.

The OBA Network continues to expand and now boasts more than 17,500 members, comprised of our degree programme alumni, current post-graduate degree programme students, University of Oxford alumni interested in business and qualifying Executive Education participants.

The support and activity of our OBA Network members contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the School – enhancing the experience for current and future students and alumni.

Our one-year MBA is an efficient way to complement the experience you gained during your service and prepare you for a successful civilian career.

We look for candidates who have demonstrated leadership and are looking to make a positive impact in their careers. We recognise and appreciate the skills veterans have gained during their service.

The curriculum will equip you with the skills you need to succeed in business. Drawing together 320 students from 60 countries, the MBA will give you a global network of peers and insights into a wide range of cultures and career paths. Our dedicated careers team is on hand throughout the programme to provide as much or as little support as you need to fulfill your post-MBA career ambitions.

If you are interested in applying to Saïd Business School, our veteran community can prove useful. Please do not hesitate to contact our current Veteran's Rep and Recruitment Manager dedicated to our military applicants if you are looking to start the application process. We are also able to provide an application fee waiver code for all military applicants. In your introduction email, please outline your nationality, service and any other information which can help us provide personalised feedback.

For a number of reasons I decided that it was time to find fresh challenges, and wanted to transfer my wide military experience into skills and language that are useful in the private sector.

Oxford Business Networks

OBN event

The School’s Oxford Business Networks (OBNs) are student-led networks which exist to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge surrounding sectors that reflect the core values of the School and the interests of its students. During your time in Oxford you will have the opportunity to become involved in the School's Oxford Business Networks (OBNs), and are comprised of current MBA, EMBA, MFE and MLF students.

OBNs are consolidated into seven core sectors; Global Business, Social Impact, Finance, Technology, Climate, Consulting and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. The OBNs are primarily outwardly looking and will liaise with the student clubs and networks to reflect the diversity of the cohort in initiatives as well as careers, the faculty, University Centres, and alumni to host annual forums, invite speakers and arrange career initiatives.

OBNs are led by co-chairs with the support of a committee and students who are elected to play a role in the leadership of an OBN have the opportunity to enrich their own learning experience and build relationships with external professionals and societies. In doing so, there is scope to make a unique and valuable contribution not only to OBN members, but to the School as a whole. Activities can include the running of events, workshops, guest speakers and networking sessions.

Student clubs

Clubs and groups

Clubs are primarily inward-looking and focus on what is occurring around Oxford either with respect to social events, speakers at the School or other Oxford departments or partnering with students in other masters programs to hold meet-and-greet events. These clubs can focus on a specific industry, interest or region but are to be inclusive to all who wish to join. These also work with the OBNs on initiatives and events that are interested in pursuing.

  • Aerospace and Defence
  • Agri-Business
  • Art and Business
  • Asia Pacific

Oxford Africa Business Alliance

Created to formalise and strengthen our Africa initiative and to stimulate action in addition to generating ideas.

MBA students can join as members of the Oxford Africa Business Alliance (ABA). Jointly led by a school and student leadership committee, the ABA focuses on development, corporate engagement, recruitment and communication. It also focuses on supporting African thought-leaders to come to the School and wider University to share on the opportunities on the continent; as well as connect with other African related networks and groups.

Members engage in and support the many African-related activities throughout the year and continue to support our vision as alumni. As members, students can identify activities they would like to support and work to generate new ideas that contribute to the schedule; but most importantly share their thoughts, demonstrate their passion for Africa and support their peers.
