Online partnerships
GetSmarter, 2U and edX
Since 2017, we’ve partnered with 2U, to deliver a portfolio of executive education online programmes and open online courses.
2U is the education technology company behind edX and GetSmarter. Their mission is to expand access to high-quality education and unlock human potential.
edX is a leading global online learning platform offering open-access courses from the world’s top universities and institutions. It allows learners to explore new topics, build foundational skills, or deepen their knowledge at their own pace, with most courses available to audit for free, and optional paid certificates for those seeking formal recognition.
GetSmarter, a brand of 2U, delivers high-touch, cohort-based online education designed specifically for working professionals. Their platform enables us to offer flexible, engaging, and supported learning experiences, with dedicated success teams, multimedia content, and real-world application.
Together, edX and GetSmarter provide two complementary ways to learn with Oxford Saïd online:
- edX for shorter, self-paced exploration
- GetSmarter for structured, high-impact professional development
When you click to apply or enrol, you’ll be directed to either the edX or GetSmarter website. This is completely normal, they manage the registration, payment, and course delivery process on our behalf. Both platforms are official and trusted Oxford Saïd partners, and your learning journey remains fully backed by the University of Oxford.
Coursera
Coursera is one of the world’s largest online learning platforms, founded in 2012. Today, it partners with more than 300 top universities and organisations to make high-quality education accessible to millions of learners globally.
Our Coursera courses are open-access and self-paced, making them ideal for flexible, independent study. They’re free to audit, with the option to pay for a certificate if you’d like formal recognition. Each course is designed to offer foundational insight into complex topics, and is delivered by Oxford faculty using Coursera’s digital learning environment.
If you enrol in an Oxford course on Coursera, you’ll be guided through the platform’s own registration and learning process. This includes creating a Coursera account, selecting your course, and choosing whether to audit for free or pursue a certificate. This is a normal part of the learning experience, and ensures you receive the full benefit of Coursera’s robust tools and support.
