Entry requirements

General entrance requirements:

  • A first-class or an upper-second class undergraduate degree or equivalent international qualifications (GPA of 3.5). We will consider applicants who do not hold such a qualification but can demonstrate a particularly strong employment record and/or hold certain professional qualifications.
  • At least 5 years' relevant professional experience.
  • English language proficiency (either TOEFL or IELTS, with minimum scores met, if English is not your first language). A previous degree or work experience in English may be sufficient.

When to apply

There is a rolling admissions process, with application deadlines throughout the year.

Places will be allocated to successful applicants on a continual basis so we would recommend applying early to guarantee your place. Once the programme is full a waitlist will come into effect.

  • 2 July 2018
  • 10 September 2018
  • 22 October 2018 (Women’s Scholarship Deadline)
  • 10 December 2018

How to apply

Contact the relevant recruitment team to discuss your suitability for the diploma you wish to apply for and find out more about the application process.

You will need the following to complete your application:

  • a CV/resume
  • two references (at least one professional)
  • academic transcripts (including official translations if appropriate)
  • evidence of English language ability
  • two essays (500 words each)

Your application essays give you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, curiosity and insight into the relevant field. The essay topics are:

  • Please outline why you wish to study for the diploma. You should focus on the organisational, strategic and/or financial challenges you are currently facing and explain how you think the programme will help you address these challenges.
  • What are your main achievements in your current position and what were your reasons for taking this position?

English language proficiency

Candidates for the diploma must demonstrate their proficiency in English as part of their application.

English test requirements:

TOEFL iBT 

Minumum score 110

Minimum required on each component

  • Listening: 22
  • Reading: 24
  • Writing: 24
  • Speaking: 25

IELTS

Minumum score 7.5

Minimum required on each component 7.0

Waivers

The requirement to provide proof of English language proficiency may be waived, at the discretion of the University, in the following circumstances:

  1. You have successfully completed a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months at a recognised institution where the medium of instruction and assessment is entirely in English
  2. You have completed extensive work experience within an English speaking country, or a company that uses English as its language of communication.

If you wish to apply for a waiver to the English language requirement, you must click on the ‘waived’ option in the TOEFL section of the application form.

As evidence we will require either that:

  1. The transcripts you submit with your application state that the sole language of instruction was English; or
  2. An official letter from your university stating that the medium of instruction throughout your course was English. This letter must be also be uploaded to the TOEFL/IELTS section of the online form; or
  3. A written statement outlining your experience working in an English speaking country or a company that uses English as its language of communication. This statement must be uploaded to the TOEFL/IELTS section of the online form.

* List of majority English speaking countries as defined by the UKBA: Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Guyana

Exchange programmes/ distance learning/ on-line courses will not be considered for the waiver.

More on TOEFL and IELTS

The institution code for ordering your official TOEFL score sheet from ETS is 0807. There is no department code, this can be left blank. If you choose to take the IELTS you need to sit the academic test. If you sit the TOEFL it must be the general test. TOEFL and IELTS scores will not be valid if they are more than two years old on the application deadline date of the stage in which you are applying.

Please note that we reserve the right to request a test of English to be taken at any time.

If you require a visa to enter the UK, please allow sufficient time for your visa to be processed.
