Oxford MSc Financial Economics
European private equity magazine Real Deals has named Saïd Business School’s Ludovic Phalippou as the one the most influential people within the private equity industry. Phalippou was the sole academic to be listed amongst a group of high profile investors, managers and chief executives, and the magazine stated that ‘although it may be tempting to file Phalippou’s voice as one among many academics, his work is clearly influential. In a paper published earlier this year – notable for its pessimistic findings regarding buyout fund returns and for its authors, who are some of the world’s largest LPs – his research was cited repeatedly in support of their results.’ Real Deals went on to say that Phalippou’s work would be a ‘welcome affirmation’ for the School’s Private Equity Institute, which aims to produce the highest quality independent research on the important issues facing the sector.
Phalippou's work focuses on the areas of private equity that are of interest to investors and potential investors, such as risk management, liquidity and measurement of returns. As well as being actively engaged with the professional world of asset management, he is also regularly approached for expert comment by top tier newspaper publications, such as The Economist and Financial Times.
