Where theory meets practice

As practical as it is academically rigorous, the MSc in Financial Economics (MFE) gives you the international insight and understanding, the knowledge of financial applications and the real-world skills and tools that leading institutions and companies demand across a breadth of industries.

Two disciplines, one top-ranked degree programme

The MFE is jointly delivered by Saïd Business School finance faculty and the Oxford University Department of Economics. Your 9-month learning experience combines the expertise of two world-class departments and is enriched by input from leading, international financial recruiters.

A global student body

You join a diverse and vibrant cohort of ambitious high achievers from around the world. Our students typically have less than two years of professional experience and are ready to launch or accelerate an exciting career in international finance or consulting.

The programme combines:

  • Pre-course training to become familiar with key concepts and techniques
  • Three days of training in 'financial markets and institutions' which takes place in a key international financial centre such as Oxford/London, New York, or Hong Kong
  • Four core courses in asset pricing, economics, corporate finance and financial econometrics

  • Five electives from a wide range of modules that develop individual skills and specialisations.

  • The opportunity to apply to take part in the Oxford Saïd Finance Laba series of practical workshops on financial modelling and real-world case studies
