The programme

Our one year MBA programme is designed to prepare students for fast-track careers. You will not only acquire fundamental business skills, but also pursue consulting specific specialisms through a variety of elective courses and practical business projects. With applied experience fast becoming a pre-requisite for recruiters, the option to complete a six week consulting project over the summer and engage in a practical entrepreneurial project, will add additional important strings to your bow.

Practical skills

The Career Development Centre have recently introduced the Consulting Development Programme (CDP) designed to provide students with skills and insight relevant to the consulting industry. The CDP is a focused training programme designed to help students better understand and better prepare for job searches and careers in consulting globally. The CDP connects theory with practice through a series of practical workshops, recruiter-led case events, small group advisory sessions, and access to online resources and tools.  The programme links to consulting recruiter events and networking sessions that provide opportunities to connect with practicing consultants from a variety of firms.

Our Careers Centre has strong relationships with consulting firms across many sectors, from large global strategy and full service firms to boutiques and specialist consultancies. In addition to general careers and personal development support, you will be offered mock interview with careers advisors and specialist sector consultant.

Global Industry

Our Global Industry team is dedicated to helping you find and prepare for a role that suits your skill set and meets your career aspirations. Students wishing to pursue a career in Global Industry are supported by two specialist career coaches, working alongside expert Industry Advisors to provide one to one support, group sessions and mock interviews.

The Global Industry team is focused on developing relationships with organisations across a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Technology, Media, Energy and Industrials, and FMCG, Retail and E-Commerce. The team organise an annual programme of events on and off-campus in partnership with companies from larger “blue chip” brands to smaller organisations, providing you with opportunities to grow your network and learn more about post-MBA opportunities across Global Industry.

The Social Impact Programme is a curated initiative oriented around helping students understand and practice some of the new tools required for a career in the sector. Through a blended “thinking and doing” offering, students will have access to various routes for a career in social impact featuring Alumni and leading professionals from the private sector, investors, social enterprises, consultancies, non-profits and technology innovators.

Our mission is to provide resources and break down barriers for aspiring social impact experts and social entrepreneurs to connect, engage and take action while delivering a case or joining a workshop.

Some examples of the workshops for the 2017-2018 academic year are:

  • Impact Investing Bootcamp - this extra-curricular weekend course is designed specifically to give students the advantage of learning the practical skills required for a career in the sector, covering topics such as deal-structure, portfolio management and impact assessment and evaluation, as well as providing networking opportunities with guest-speakers and alumni.

  • Interviewing for roles in Social Impact
  • Technology for Social Good
  • Careers in Impact Consulting

Social Impact Careers Conference  This one day conference will include a careers fair, structured networking opportunities and the chance to meet with impact leaders and organisations in an intimate setting. This is the highlight of the Social Impact calendar at the school and takes place on 21st February 2018. There will be a reduction for earlybird registration

Oxford Business Network – Social Impact Join an Oxford Business Network of your interest to attend upcoming events, receive updates and network with current students and fellow alumni with similar interests. We hope that these groups will create opportunities for worldwide relationship building and information sharing.

Our events and the SI Programme will provide you with plenty of opportunities to connect with employers and alumni in the field. The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and the Entrepreneurship Centre also develop many student programmes and offer regular opportunities to learn from, meet and challenge founders, social investors and executives leading impactful activities in their respective industries.
