Executive MBA Shefali Roy is one of the most powerful women in FinTech

Shefali Roy’s curriculum vitae spans some of the top names in the finance and technology sectors, including Apple, Goldman Sachs, Stripe and TrueLayer. In recognition of her impactful career, Women in FinTech have named her among the fifty most powerful within the sector for the second year running 

‘Technology as a whole just doesn’t have many women leaders,’ said Shefali. ‘So to have a lobby group that recognises the breadth of experience that women bring to finance and technology companies is really important, and I’m delighted to be named on this list.’

Having begun her career as a compliance manager at insurance firm Aviva, Shefali moved through a succession of roles across a variety sectors. ‘I spent eight years in financial services, in Australia and Europe, culminating in a role as Global Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer at Christies, where I built their governance network and ethics department,’ she said.

From there, Shefali moved to Apple in a position overseeing the company’s regional compliance in Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. After three years at Apple, Shefali moved into the FinTech sector when she joined Stripe, a payments firm that now tops the Forbes Cloud 100 list. ‘When the opportunity to move into FinTech came along, it seemed like a natural way to combine my backgrounds in both technology and financial services,’ recalled Shefali.
