Oxford Diploma in Financial Strategy

Do I need to have a degree?

A good undergraduate degree (at least 2:1) is usually required. Applicants may also be considered if they hold a relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or CFA.

How many years' work experience is required?

This programme is designed for people with at least five years of professional experience. However, most participants have more than 10 years of professional experience. Please download the brochure for further information.

Are there any age restrictions?

There are no age restrictions, but applicants need to demonstrate they have the intellectual ability and relevant professional experience to join in strategic level group discussions.

Do I need to have a financial background?

The programme is designed for finance professionals, general managers looking for an advanced understanding of corporate finance, and representatives from professional services firms. Applicants are expected to be familiar with the challenges of business strategy, competitive analysis and organisational change. You should also be confident in using common financial terminology and quantitative methods.

How can I apply?

Please complete the online form. You will be asked to outline your objectives for the programme and to prepare a personal statement of up to 500 words. Please provide details of two people who will be contacted to supply a standard reference form. All applications are subject to review and approval by the admissions committee.

What is the deadline for applications?

Please be aware that we operate a rolling admissions process with deadlines throughout the year, which you can view on our How to Apply page.

We recommend that you apply early in the year as:

• We cannot guarantee that there will be places left by the end of the admissions process.
• Attendance at all modules is compulsory, so an early offer will enable effective planning.

If an admissions deadline is stated on our website and this date has passed, it will still be possible to process your application if there are places available.

How should I write my personal statement?

As part of the application process you will be required to submit a 500 word personal statement. This should focus on specific current or emergent issues that you think the Diploma will help address in your organisation.

Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?

There is a Scholarship for Women available for the Diploma in Financial Strategy. Candidates who have submitted a completed application and receive an offer will automatically be considered for this Scholarship. To find out more, please visit the Scholarship for Women page.

Visit the Professional and Career Development Loans website for more information.

Do I have to start the programme in January?

The Diploma starts in January each year, and cannot be joined at other times. Participants are required to attend and successfully complete all four modules and assessments. The final project is due for submission in January of the following year.

How long is each module?

Each module is four days in length, running from Wednesday morning to Saturday afternoon. The dates for 2019 are available on the Dates and Fees page.

What is the current class profile?

Diploma students come from a variety of backgrounds and sectors. Participant groups are a global mix of experienced professionals, providing a unique opportunity to network and discuss perspectives at the highest level. For a breakdown of this year's class profile view the Class Profile page.
