Before embarking on my MBA at Oxford, I grew up in Khayelitsha, a township on the outskirts of Cape Town, where I witnessed first-hand the harsh realities of poverty, organised crime, and limited educational opportunities. My mother’s determination to provide me with a better education outside of Khayelitsha shaped my belief in the transformative power of education. It fuelled my passion for creating a world different from the suffocating despair of my childhood.

My academic journey at Oxford began with a DPhil at New College as a Rhodes Scholar, where I focused on impactful research that connected clinical practice with academic rigour. However, my experiences in the South African public healthcare system revealed systemic challenges that required more than medical skill and research.

The Pershing Square Scholarship was pivotal in enabling me to pursue an MBA at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. This scholarship represented more than just financial support—it was a critical step in my mission to drive meaningful change in South Africa and across Africa. The MBA equipped me with the business acumen and leadership skills necessary to complement my medical and research background, empowering me to innovate within the healthcare sector.

After my MBA, I co-founded Quro Medical, a digital health company at the forefront of transforming healthcare delivery in South Africa. We are building the largest virtual hospital in Africa, and our mission is to make premium healthcare accessible to all.
In addition to my role at Quro Medical, I am a trustee of the Bongani Mayosi Foundation, which fosters academic research and training to combat poverty-related diseases, and a Non-Executive Director at Percept Actuaries, a consultancy dedicated to advancing healthcare and financial resilience. I also teach at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), where I lead the Dynamic Innovation elective, preparing students to solve complex business challenges with innovative approaches.

Reflecting on my time at Oxford, the enrichment activities, mentorship, and global network I gained through the Saïd Business School MBA program have profoundly influenced my approach to leadership and innovation. Moreover, the Pershing Square scholarship instilled a deep sense of responsibility to use my skills and resources to drive positive change.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Pershing Square Foundation for their generosity. Your support has been instrumental in my journey, and I am inspired by the opportunities you have provided to make a lasting impact in the healthcare sector globally.
