Tell us a little about your career background

Before pursuing my MBA, I spent four years in Strategy and Management Consulting in India, working across both public and private sector projects. This helped me build a strong foundation in structured problem-solving, stakeholder management, and delivering impact in complex, fast-moving environments.

During the MBA, I joined Amazon’s MBA Launch programme and interned at their EU headquarters in Luxembourg over the summer. It was an incredible experience that gave me hands-on exposure to product management in a global tech environment. It ultimately led to a full-time offer, and I’m now working at Amazon Business as a Senior Product Manager.

Why was an Oxford MBA important to help you understand a global view of business where markets, trade and work are transforming at a rapid rate?

The Oxford MBA helped me understand the global business landscape not just through theory, but by immersing me in it. In a world where technology, geopolitics, and societal shifts are transforming how we operate, I wanted a programme that would broaden my perspective.

Electives such as Global Strategy gave me frameworks to navigate both market and non-market forces - vital in today’s fragmented yet interconnected world. In the GOTO module (Global Opportunities and Threats), I worked on a live business challenge focused on rebuilding food systems and inclusive supply chains by using systems thinking and stakeholder analysis. Through the Entrepreneurship Project, my team and I developed a business model and MVP for an AI-powered influencer marketing platform, sharpening my ability to lead innovation from idea to execution.

Outside the classroom, I worked on a UK-based consulting project with CapitOx, participated in the Creative Destruction Lab’s AI stream, and engaged with leaders and experts across events and speaker series. What shaped me the most was the diversity of the cohort - every conversation became an opportunity to see the world through a different lens, informed by different geographies, backgrounds, and lived experiences.

Oxford gave me the mindset, network, and tools to navigate global change with purpose — and the confidence to grow into the kind of leader I aspire to be.

Turning to your personal career journey, did you know where you wanted to head in your career before your MBA?

I came into the MBA with a clear intention of gaining international experience and exploring new career directions. What unfolded was a career triple jump — a transition in geography, industry, and function. The environment at Oxford, combined with access to world-class resources, personalised career support, and a truly global network, allowed me to explore, reflect, and ultimately take that leap. I’m grateful for the opportunity and the ecosystem that made this shift not only possible, but incredibly fulfilling.

How have the resources and opportunities of an Oxford Saïd education and career development assisted you?

Even before entering the MBA programme, I had access to tailored guidance from Oxford — whether through CV reviews, mock interviews, or one-on-one coaching to align my career plan with my evolving goals. The careers team also facilitated connections with alumni working in the fields I was exploring, which gave me invaluable insights and direction.

Throughout the year, I benefited from curated opportunities, interview prep resources, on-campus presentations, and networking events, all of which played a key role in helping me navigate a successful career transition.

Now you have taken your next career step, what recommendation would you give to incoming students embarking on their MBA journey?

Try to outline your career goals early and stay focused. The year flies by, and recruiting timelines often start sooner than you think—so it helps to be prepared. Be intentional about networking and focus on building genuine relationships rather than just collecting contacts. Some of the most valuable advice or opportunities come from unexpected places, simply because you showed up with curiosity and openness.

Prep extensively, because beyond the MBA, it’s the effort you put into standing out that really makes the difference. Build hands-on experience wherever you can, whether through internships or live projects. Lean on the careers team as their support, feedback, and network can make a real difference, but it’s ultimately up to you to reach out proactively and apply what you learn.

There will most likely be tough moments along the way, and it is important to stay resilient, ask for help, and try to surround yourself with people who can support and celebrate you. And celebrate the wins, big or small, because they all count. Lastly, be thankful for the people who help you along the way. This journey can be intense, but it can also be one of the most rewarding things you’ll do.
