I have founded Solar Americas Capital Limited (SAC), with headquarters in the UK and a portfolio of solar assets under development in Brazil and Portugal. Before SAC, I worked for blue chip companies and then founded, secured investments, and had successful exits for innovative startups such as Skysites Americas Limited (now IHS Towers in Brazil), the first wireless exclusive rights’ owner and aggregator in Brazil with over 30,000 properties under management and QuarkSe Holdings Limited, the first Global Distribution System for eSIM. Also, I have a solid education background with a PhD in Law (King’s College London), a LL.M in Energy and Climate Change Law (Queen Mary University, University of London), Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (UPE), B.Sc. Physics (UFPE), and Bachelor of Law and Social Sciences (UFRJ).
However, I felt the need to complement my academic background in law and technology, and my experience as an entrepreneur structuring capital and negotiating with investors, with formal training in private equity. As an entrepreneur and founder of capital-intensive businesses, I was looking for a programme to help me understand the private equity market in detail with a practical and research-based approach.
The Saïd Business School Private Equity Programme has the right balance between the case studies and research-based insights on the trends and challenges in structuring capital to enable the growth of capital-intensive businesses. As SAC is a renewable company addressing the energy transition demand, it faces challenges in structuring financing considering the expected return of investors and long-term benefits for all stakeholders, including the right of future generations to a healthy environment
I left the rich week in Oxford in February 2025 well-equipped to better understand the contemporary private capital markets and plan the right strategy for SAC’s capital structure. Also, interacting with outstanding professors and cohorts facing similar challenges creates a unique environment to discuss the challenges we face nowadays, such as the high interest rates, inflation, deglobalisation trends, and geopolitics. The rich conversations in the classroom, breakout sessions, and during our social activities with cohorts in different positions, not only as founders but also as GPs, LPs, and members of family offices, make the week unique.
I’m proud to be an alumnus of Oxford Saïd Business School, and I look forward to growing my network with other alumni and returning to Oxford to attend new programme’s soon.
