Having experienced private equity in Russia and other CIS countries, I now reside in Uzbekistan and took this course recognising that Central Asia is rapidly growing and becoming increasingly attractive for the private equity industry. The region’s evolving economic landscape presents new opportunities, making it essential to remain abreast of global trends.

I found the Oxford Private Equity Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford to be a transformative learning experience. Over the five-day course, we explored a comprehensive spectrum of PE topics - from the fundamentals of fund structures and performance measures to the intricacies of leveraged buyouts and innovative exit strategies. Engaging syndicate group discussions and immersive case studies provided invaluable practical perspectives.

The faculty, led by the renowned Professor Tim Jenkinson, brings decades of experience and thought leadership to the classroom. Co-lecturer Chris Kallos, with his extensive legal expertise, enriched the experience by offering real-world insights into private equity legal frameworks and operational challenges. The guest lecturers added further immense value: Richard Moon’s lecture on pension fund investments as a limited partner provided critical insights into asset allocation and the strategic role of PE in long-term portfolios; Chris Sullivan’s session on Management Deals in PE-backed Companies offered an incisive analysis of aligning management incentives with long-term value creation; Cornelia Gomez led engaging discussions on ESG, while Anne Fossemalle’s presentation on building the PE industry in emerging markets was particularly pertinent, highlighting the nuances and challenges of investing in new frontiers.

Equally impressive was the calibre of the participants. The course administrators did an outstanding job selecting a diverse group - from top industry experts and consultants to entrepreneurs and regulators from around the globe - enriching our discussions and expanding our global outlook. I wholeheartedly recommend this programme to anyone seeking to excel in the dynamic field of private equity.
