After doing extensive research, I chose the real estate programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, because of its world-class education with a comprehensive curriculum taught by leading and industry experts. This gave me comfort in receiving knowledge in real estate from both academic and practical perspectives. The programme director, Professor Andrew Baum, is recognised as a world-leading expert in real estate research and education. The curriculum covers a wide range of areas in real estate and provides a global perspective, which makes the programme stand out from my other options.
Expanding knowledge in real estate investment strategies
I was particularly looking to learn more about real estate investment strategies and real estate private equity because of my past direct experience and my current role in my company. I was very impressed by the knowledge and insights that I gained during the programme, which exceeded my expectations in many ways. The programme also encourages a collaborative learning environment through various activities like group projects and class discussions.
Sharing the Thai real estate perspective
Given that I am the first participant from Thailand, it was my privilege to be able to share the real estate environment and our world-class development in the shopping centre sector with the class. I also enjoyed interacting and networking with my cohort, who came from different backgrounds and regions, which helped to provide a variety of viewpoints and real-world experiences. However, this was also a challenging part of the programme, as participants from different backgrounds had to quickly get to know each other and work on the group project in a limited timeframe for a presentation at the end of the programme.
Immersing in Oxford’s rich educational environment
Oxford also offers an exceptional educational environment with its rich history, beautiful setting, and world-class academic facilities. I also had a wonderful time during one week in the city of Oxford, which has very vibrant cultural offerings and a lively student life experience. The wonderful team behind the programme were very professional and helpful to participants.
Applying Oxford’s teachings to my career and joining a prestigious, global network
After completing the programme, I have managed to apply some of the techniques and knowledge from the programme to my real-life work, such as investment strategies and development approaches. I feel that there have been several positive impacts, including enhanced decision-making ability, a broader perspective, increased credibility, and leadership growth.
Another key benefit of the programme is the access to Oxford’s prestigious global network, including the Oxford Business School Alumni Network in Thailand. This will greatly benefit my network in Thailand and internationally, which will help with my professional and career development in the future.
