Customer data. Payment data. Data regulation. Data analytics.
Data is the key ingredient to the transformation we are witnessing in financial services. But as artificial intelligence (AI) continues to develop and drive change in finance the question is who owns, and who gets to control, that data.
In this episode of Oxford Tea Talks Professor Pinar Ozcan and Likhit Wagle, former head of financial services at IBM Global, take a 360-degree look at what is happening in this global industry. And then they break down what this fintech revolution means for:
- small fintech innovators who are showing how AI could be used in order to truly improve the quality and breadth of customer experience
- large banks and financial services firms who sit on so much data
- Big Tech who are getting more and more involved in the less regulated side of financial services - payments
- and of course for customers themselves.
Pinar is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Saïd Business School. She is also Academic Director of the Oxford Saïd Entrepreneurship Centre and the Oxford Future of Finance and Technology Initiative. She also teaches on a number of our Executive Education finance programmes.
Oxford Tea Talks is a conversation series where you get to listen to new ideas and cutting edge research, and also gain fresh perspectives on the thorny issues businesses and business leaders are facing today. Each episode pairs two people - a mix of faculty, associate fellows and thought leaders from Saïd Business School and the University of Oxford - to engage in a dynamic discussion over a cup of tea.
