The Oxford Masters in Financial Economics (MFE) has ranked first in the world out of 222 programmes in the QS Master in Finance 2025 rankings.

Highlights from across this year’s scoreboard include joint first in the world for Alumni Outcomes and Employability, and first in the world for Thought Leadership. Last year the programme, one of the most over-subscribed postgraduate courses across Saïd Business School, scored joint first alongside HEC Paris.

It is an incredible achievement to once again rank in first place for our MFE. It takes tremendous dedication and commitment from our faculty, staff and students to create and maintain a world-leading programme like ours. Oxford Saïd strives to bring the greatest minds to our doors and recognition such as this ranking, helps us to continue to attract and recruit the best candidates.

Associate Professor in Retail Marketing and Deputy Dean at Oxford Saïd

The nine-month course, delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Department of Economics, provides rigorous academic training with real-world applications, designed in close consultation with leading financial recruiters. It covers the skills needed to accelerate a career in finance including corporate finance, financial econometrics, asset pricing and economics.

Graduates from the programme have gone on to positions in leading firms in finance, including Morgan Stanley, UBS, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America, as well major global consulting firms such as McKinsey, BCG, and Bain. Mariana Andrade, Summer Equity Research Analyst at J.P. Morgan, said: 'The MFE is by far the most comprehensive programme I could have chosen. It deepened my understanding and provided transformative insights into the financial markets and major macroeconomic policies. The electives build perfectly on the core courses, offering practical applications that are essential for a career in finance. The intellectual rigour of the programme sharpened my thinking, while the tailored career support helped me to stand out in the job market. Moreover, being part of the Oxford community enriches the entire journey.’

QS also released its annual MBA ranking, where the Oxford MBA placed joint first in the world for Thought Leadership, a category which considers the quality and impact of research output, the influence of the institution's thought leaders, and the overall academic reputation of the school. Overall, the Oxford MBA programme placed 19th in the world out of 315 programmes, and 8th out of 91 European programmes.

Research and teaching sit at the heart of all we do, here at Oxford Saïd. And as a School committed to real world impact, it is pleasing to see our thought leadership placed first in the world, across both these rankings. We are busy expanding our world-class faculty, who continue to enrich the minds of our brilliant students, while developing evidence-based insights that can be used to address some of the most important and interesting challenges in the world of business.

Peter Moores Dean of Oxford Saïd
