MBAs scoop £9600 of winnings for their plan to combat noxious emissions from cargo ships
In a suspenseful and euphoric final round of the Oxford MBA’s unique Global Opportunities and Threats: Oxford (GOTO) programme, team ‘Green Marines’ won both the presentation prize and the audience award for their project on the environmental impact of the shipping industry. Team ‘Student Revolution’ won a poster competition for their visual representation of a plan to reduce emissions from student housing.
GOTO is the Oxford MBA’s flagship programme designed to cultivate systems thinking and deep insights into the world’s most urgent problems. Each year students are split into teams and tasked with a different problem to solve, with the focus of 2019 being ‘the future of energy.’ Previous topics have included water management and markets, the future of work and demography. The teams are assigned tutors from across the broader University, who aid and assess their work.
