The ranking also means the course is now ranked sixth in the world.

The Financial Times (FT) ‘Masters in Finance pre-experience 2022’ rankings has today placed Saïd Business School, University of Oxford’s Masters in Financial Economics (MFE) programme number one in the UK.

Delivered in partnership with the University’s Department of Economics, the nine-month course provides rigorous academic training with real-world applications, designed in close consultation with leading financial recruiters.

Students can tailor their experience with a selection of electives to complement their core modules. The core is an academically rigorous one covering economics, econometrics and finance, while the electives allow for a wide range of practical and theoretical topics ranging from behavioural economics to mergers, acquisition and restructuring.

Today’s ranking also means the course is now ranked sixth in the world, climbing four places from 10th last year.

Ken Okamura, Programme Director at Oxford Saïd, said:

‘We are delighted our hard work, over what has been a challenging time, has been recognised. This is a highly competitive field so to be named best in the UK and sixth in the world is a real testament to the professionalism, perseverance and dedication of our faculty and programme team, and the brilliant students we have had the privilege of teaching.’

The course, also ranked number one in the world by the QS World University Rankings, a title which it has held for three consecutive years, is well regarded for its diversity, employability and alumni outcomes.

The current Oxford MFE class boasts a diverse cohort from 21 different nationalities and is made up of 49% women. Graduates have gone on to leading firms in finance, including Morgan Stanley, UBS, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America, as well major global consulting firms such as McKinsey, BCG, and Bain.

Hamish Low, James Meade Professor of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford, said:

'This is a real testament to how we have built a course that combines the best of economics and finance, and integrates both fields to create a stimulating experience for our outstanding students.’

Reflecting on how the course has benefited her, Yue Ying an MFE graduate and Equity Research Analyst at Citigroup said:

'The MFE programme was a transformative experience because I felt stretched every second. The intellectually challenging knowledge, deep communication with practitioners, and the supportive career team helped me achieve my passion.'
