Oxford Seed Fund (OSF) is the University of Oxford’s student-and-alumni managed venture fund, housed in Saïd Business School’s Entrepreneurship Centre.
The Oxford Seed Fund has the unique mandate of investing into early-stage startups where an Oxford student, alumni or academic staff, is part of the founding team, with investment coming from the university itself. Since September 2023, the team has reviewed 200+ applications from Oxford-affiliated ventures and has wrapped up the academic year with 20 stellar investments, several of which are founded by Oxford MBA alumni.
These span the likes of genetically engineered microalgae for scalable carbon capture, metabolomics-based disease diagnostics for pets, foundational infrastructure for quantum technologies, and so many more purpose-driven innovations. Such startups are often found at the earliest stage due to the fund’s DNA as a student-and-alumni team, who strive for a personable and founder-friendly approach, whilst maintaining a thorough application review and diligence process.
