Networking opportunities while attending Saïd Business School were crucial to Neil Yeoh's post-MBA success.
After securing a place at the Skoll World Forum while completing his MBA at Oxford Saïd, Neil Yeoh met his future boss. An MBA is about more than just learning – it’s about the opportunities, networking, and the community you build.
A first-generation Australian born to migrant parents from Malaysia and Hong Kong, Neil grew up in Adelaide where the Asian population was a minority. He worked hard to live up to his family’s expectations despite feeling divorced from his ethnic heritage.
An outstanding student, Neil started his career as an engineer and consultant in the Australian oil and gas industry. He quickly learned the environmental impact of the industry, and sought answers to his career direction and purpose. During a pilgrimage to China, his health suffered from industrial air pollution. He asked himself, ‘if this is where my ancestors called home, where people don’t even have the basic right to fresh air, then what kind of ancestor do I want to be for my people?’
