New online Venture Series for entrepreneurs launches

Saïd Business School has announced a new series of online programmes to support entrepreneurs on their journey to success.

The Oxford Venture Series, in partnership with edX, captures the collective research intelligence of the School's Entrepreneurship Centre, the Oxford Future of Marketing Initiative and the Private Equity Institute. The series distils this expertise into four programmes that meet entrepreneurs' needs in start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, intrapreneurs and corporate innovators.

Professor Andrew Stephen, Associate Dean of Research, L’Oreal Professor of Marketing and Programme Director for the third programme in the Venture Series, believes that to move ahead, it is essential for entrepreneurs to invest in knowledge. He said: ‘Existing ways of thinking and doing things are increasingly becoming stale and outdated, and this is very much the case when we look at modern marketing. The only way to bring valuable fresh thinking to the table is to develop your own perspectives, mindsets, and practical skills.’

‘This series of courses demonstrates Oxford Saïd's continued leadership in digital education and commitment to innovation’, said Andrew Hermalyn, President of Partnerships at 2U, the parent company of edX. ‘These courses provide distinctive opportunities for entrepreneurs and business professionals at early and high-stage growth companies to gain the skills required to navigate and excel in a rapidly-evolving business landscape.’

The new series brings together:

Venture Creation Programme: conceptualise new ideas, stress test and scale existing business models

Venture Finance Programme: understand and differentiate the types of entrepreneurial finance available as business ventures evolve, grow and scale

Digital Marketing Disruptive Strategy Programme: create and implement disruptive strategies and consumer-centric digital transformation plans to generate future business value and growth

In helping entrepreneurs to launch and scale their business, whilst giving them a blueprint to face the challenges presented by todays ever changing economic environment, the series will support economic growth and job creation. This is why the programme has been presented as part of the prize in the Oxford Saïd collaboration with the Jimmy Choo Academy, challenging the academy’s undergraduate designers to create new staff uniforms for the School. The Oxford Venture Programme prize will be an ideal starting block for the overall winners Valeria Peeva and Maxi Purton, as they graduate from the academy and look to launch a successful business.
