Oxford’s Economics & Management programme is the best undergraduate business degree in the UK, according to the 2026 Complete University Guide, published this week.

The undergraduate course, taught by Oxford Saïd and the University’s Department of Economics, has taken first place in the rankings for the fifth year running. It was also ranked best for graduate prospects.

Dr Pegram Harrison, Director of Undergraduate Studies in Management, maintained: ‘Our students make E&M such a great programme: they work hard and make the most of their time at university, and go on to do great things later. It’s a privilege to work with them while they are here.’

Professor Chris Bowdler, Director of Undergraduate Studies in Economics, added: ‘The Department of Economics is delighted that the undergraduate programmes in Economics at the University of Oxford have been recognised for providing an outstanding education and student experience. The Economics courses for undergraduates in Oxford offer not only a rigorous training in the theory and methods central to modern economic analysis, but also the opportunity to explore economic policy issues and undertake independent research across a very broad range of fields within Economics. The Department is grateful for the hard work of all the faculty members and support staff who have contributed to this excellent outcome.’

The jewel in Oxford Saïd’s crown is our E&M undergraduate programme, run jointly with our excellent colleagues in Economics. I know from personal experience in teaching on the programme since its inception that the calibre of these students is simply exceptional.

Professor Jonathan Reynolds

Deputy Dean, Oxford Saïd

Professor Reynolds continued: 'We are delighted to have this confirmed and to be recognised again by the Complete University Guide.'

Oxford’s  Economics & Management course is also ranked second in the world by Times Higher Education, behind MIT in the US, and joint fifth in the world, according to the prestigious QS rankings. The course was ranked second in the UK by the Guardian’s University Guide in 2025.
