Award-winning afrobeat musician KiDi looks forward to creating impact at the Oxford Africa Business Forum

Award-winning afrobeat musician and producer KiDi is among a host of special guests from across Africa speaking at this years Oxford Africa Business Forum.

He joins a host of high profile speakers, including footballer Didier Drogba, Governor Dikko Radda, and entrepreneur Rebecca Ennchong at the 16th annual Oxford Africa Business Forum on March 14 and 15, under the theme of Growth Trajectory: Globalisation vs Domestic Collaboration, at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. 

The event is jointly orchestrated by the Oxford Africa Business Alliance, a partnership between our faculty, students and alumni at Oxford Saïd. It serves as a nexus for leaders and scholars to focus on the critical decisions and pathways shaping Africa's economic future.

Speaking ahead of this year's event, KiDi, who has won a host of awards in his home country, and been named by the BBC as one of ten African artists to watch, said: ‘The future of business in Africa lies in embracing technology and creativity. With a wealth of talent and resources, Africa has the potential to lead in innovation, particularly in the creative and digital industries. Collaboration and investment in young entrepreneurs will drive the continent’s growth and global influence. I’m speaking at the Oxford Africa Forum, because I believe it supports that agenda, by bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs, and scholars to help foster sustainable growth, drive social impact, and unlock untapped potential.’

Franklin Olakunle Amoo

Franklin Olakunle Amoo, Co-Founder and the Managing Partner of Baylis Emerging Markets, a leading pan-African investment firm with headquarters in New York and Lagos, will also be speaking at the Fourm. He described three key elements to securing the successful future of business in Africa: 'Indigenous African capital formation, integrating African markets to service intra-African manufacturing based and digital trade, and using both to develop enterprises of significant continental scale. Africa's solutions are inward and have much less to do with the rest of the world than the continent or most of its partners currently believe.'

Laurinda Tchouanga, is co-director of the Oxford Africa Business Forum and an Oxford MBA student. She has been working alongside her fellow students and staff at Oxford Saïd to deliver this year's Forum. Looking ahead to the event, she said: ‘I strongly believe in challenging the narrative of a single, uniform Africa and embracing the continent's incredible diversity. Africa's future is bright, driven by its youth and endless opportunities. As the world navigates the balance between globalisation and local collaboration, the Oxford Africa Business Forum will provide a platform for impactful discussions and the exchange of best practices to address business challenges. We will not only showcase Africa's potential but also explore how we can shape its future - together. ‘ 

The 16th annual Forum will be delivered in-person with a sold-out gala dinner on the evening of 14 March at one of Oxford University’s historic colleges. All sessions will be live streamed for online registrations.
