The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship welcomes the 15th cohort of its Scholarship to the Oxford MBA at Saïd Business School.

Four Skoll Scholars have received this prestigious scholarship for their impact entrepreneurial work to tackle world-scale problems. The 2018-19 cohort of Skoll Scholars come to Oxford from Rwanda, India, Pakistan, and Peru, and will join their fellow MBA classmates this September in Oxford.

Daniela Gheorghe

Daniela Gheorghe - Skoll Scholar 2018-19

Daniela is a social entrepreneur in education. Born in Romania, Daniela spent eight years working in India in business development, marketing and operations across four states with impact businesses. She started vChalk, a for-profit ed-tech company, in Bangalore in 2014.

Upon receiving the Scholarship, Daniela said, 'I believe that the Oxford MBA will help me sharpen my financial and strategic skills required for growth. I am humbled to have received the Skoll Scholarship as it is a global recognition of my work and passion for impact through business.'

Julie Greene

Julie Greene - Skoll Scholar 2018-19

Julie is a social entrepreneur who is passionate about creating opportunities for women through education and business. She co-founded The Women’s Bakery, a social enterprise which builds bakeries and provides vocational training and employment to women in East Africa.

Upon receiving her Scholarship, Julie said, 'I was drawn to Oxford Saïd and the Skoll Centre because they incubate impact-oriented leaders, dynamic problem solvers and innovative world-changers. The Skoll Scholarship is an incredible opportunity to enhance my leadership and escalate the social impact possible through my work. I am incredibly honoured, humbled, and excited to join such an inspiring community!'

Mohsin Mustafa

Mohsin Mustafa - Skoll Scholar 2018-19
Mohsin Mustafa - Skoll Scholar 2018-19

Mohsin is an entrepreneur who is passionate about provision of quality primary healthcare. He sees provision of quality healthcare as a way of enabling social justice and that’s what fuels his passion for work. Mohsin is the co-founder and managing director of Clinic5, an affordable healthcare delivery service for communities in Pakistan.

Upon receiving the Skoll Scholarship, Mohsin said, 'I feel blessed to have this opportunity to learn and represent my people at this world class global platform – hope to bring back prosperity for my people through the agency of my work.'

Alexander Wankel

Alexander Wankel (Skoll Scholar & MBA) Headshot

Alexander has dedicated his career to generating economic opportunities for smallholder farmers and artisans in the rural Andes of Peru. Founder of Kai Pacha Foods, he launched the first Peruvian dairy free milk alternative made with native quinoa varieties, to preserve quinoa diversity while providing fair prices for impoverished farmers.

Upon receiving the Scholarship, Alexander said, 'Skoll is the greatest community that I can imagine to support my vision of social change, and I believe that this year at Oxford will help bring my work to a new level of impact. This scholarship has affirmed my commitment to innovating new solutions to rural poverty and is already helping advance my organisation.'

The Skoll Scholarship

The Skoll Scholarship is awarded each year to individuals who pursue entrepreneurial solutions for urgent social, and environmental challenges. Not only does it provide full funding to the MBA programme, Skoll Scholars become part of a growing community of change leaders around the world. It also offers exclusive opportunities to meet with world-renowned entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and investors.

Each year the Skoll Centre awards up to five scholarships a year onto the Oxford MBA programme, if you’re interested in learning more about being a Skoll Scholar, register your interest or get in touch.
