Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation
The Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation is delighted to announce that Dr Anzhela Cédelle (née Yevgenyeva), a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre and an Associate Member of the Oxford Law Faculty, has received a highly prestigious British Academy’s Rising Star Engagement Award.
The British Academy’s Rising Star Engagement Awards are made to a small cohort of distinguished early career academics across the whole range of the humanities and social sciences to enable their active engagement in the work of the Academy and to enhance their skills and career development through interdisciplinary projects.
The project title is International Tax Cooperation: Exploring the Shift towards Multilateralism.
International tax cooperation has long been dominated by bilateral instruments. However, the recent global efforts – led by the G20 and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development – to address the increasingly acute problems of tax avoidance and profit shifting, tax transparency and cross-border cooperation between tax authorities, has resulted in the rapidly growing importance of multilateral platforms and intergovernmental instruments.
The project aims at engaging academics (both established and early career), policymakers, representatives of international organisations, tax authorities and advocacy groups in the evaluation of this fundamental change, and exploring the challenges and opportunities created by the emerging shift towards multilateralism in international tax law. The programme will consist of (i) a two-day international conference and (ii) a poster session at the University of Oxford. It will allow early career scholars to enhance their policy engagement and obtain first-hand experience in producing research high impact beyond academia.
