About Professional Service Firms

Professional Service Firms (PSF) is a hub for academic research into the management of professional service firms. Its members work closely with top practitioners to explore the key challenges confronting the professional services sector.

Our aims

The PSF group brings together theory and practice. We aim to:

  • Shape the field of research into professional service firms and build a network for academic activity in this field
  • Generate intellectually rigorous and empirically-based insights into the challenges facing those who work and manage professional service firms
  • Provide policy makers with cross-disciplinary perspectives on regulation of the professions.

Research

We conduct research activities into the internal and external dynamics of professional service firms, the nature of professional work and the evolution of professional institutions.

Teaching

We provides a programme of innovative teaching, based on research and with the collaboration of practitioners. This includes: specialisations within the Saïd Business School MBA programme; supervision of DPhil and Masters research degree programmes, and short courses customised for specific professional service firms.

Members of the PSF group include some of the world's foremost thinkers in the field of professional service firms. Their work has been published in leading international journals as well as prize winning monographs. The faculty members are also well known for their work in executive education and advisory work with professional firms.
