Bridgepoint Private Equity Challenge

Bridgepoint is a leading private equity fund in Europe with €12 billion of assets. More than ten members of its fund management team are Oxford alumni. Bridgepoint, in association with the Private Equity Institute, sponsors and runs the ‘Bridgepoint Private Equity Challenge’, an investment competition aimed to find the smartest assessment of leveraged buyout opportunities in the UK.

The assessment involves Oxford students, registered in the Oxford Saïd Finance Lab, working together in teams and presenting their investment recommendations to judges from Bridgepoint and Oxford. The top three graduate and undergraduate teams will spend a day in at the Bridgepoint headquarters in London including a presentation of their findings, the chance to meet other Bridgepoint executives and an awards dinner. The winning two teams in each category receive cash prizes.

‘The Bridgepoint Private Equity Challenge aims to provide the participants with an experience of developing a private equity investment thesis that replicates the reality of working in the industry as closely as possible,’ says Emma Watford, Director at Bridgepoint. ‘The engagement of the students, the thought they put into their submissions and the exceptional feedback we are given on how much the Challenge means to them makes it very rewarding for us. We are always delighted when we hear that participants in the Challenge have been able to use the experience it gives them to shape their career choices’.
