Workforce innovation

This research in health care is led by David Barron and focuses on various issues to do with clinical staffing- including understanding issues that affect the recruitment and retention of nurses and ways of working with nurses to improve patient satisfaction with care. He is also interested in the effects of staffing on patient outcomes. One project involves working in collaboration with the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre to show how variations in the staffing of intensive care units can have an impact on mortality rates.

He has participated in a project involving two NHS Trusts to test a method of helping nurses improve patients' satisfaction with their care.
