It covers good business practice with a focus on science and technology enterprise, but most course material is relevant to general business practice.

All lectures take place at Saïd Business School, Park End St, Oxford OX1 1HP.

Topics covered include:

  • building a team
  • raising capital, and more

Who is it for?

Building a Business is open to anyone who would like to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of business practice, particularly if they plan to start an enterprise of their own.

The series covers basic business principals and introduces the key concepts of starting a business. It is not aimed at established entrepreneurs or businesses; the lecture content is aimed at people who have limited prior knowledge of business practice.

Building a Business is available to university students for free.

The fee for external participants is £175, payable in advance of the start of the lecture series.

The Building a Business Certificate of Attendance will be given to participants who attend at least five of the six lectures. The certificate of attendance will only be available for participants who have attended the lectures in person. It is not possible to issue the certificate for those who have downloaded the series online.
