Who is it for?

Building a Business is a six-week evening lecture series taking place each autumn, which provides basic business skills to those who would like to start a business, and those with an existing early stage business who are seeking to develop and enhance their skills.

All lectures take place at Saïd Business School, Park End St, Oxford OX1 1HP.

The series covers basic business principals and introduces the key concepts of starting a business. It is not aimed at established entrepreneurs or businesses; the lecture content is aimed at people who have limited prior knowledge of business practice.

Topics covered include:

  • Marketing and selling
  • Building a team
  • Raising capital, and more

Building a Business is available to university students for free.

The fee for external participants is £175, payable in advance of the start of the lecture series.

Certification

The Building a Business Certificate of Attendance will be given to participants who attend at least five of the six lectures. The certificate of attendance will only be available for participants who have attended the lectures in person. It is not possible to issue the certificate for those who have downloaded the series online.
