Oxford Union Debating Chamber

Oxford Union Debate: The promise and peril of 'Tech for good'

About the event

This event is part of the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, and is open for all to attend.

Is social media unleashing democracy or destroying it? Will artificial intelligence unlock new opportunities for the world’s poorest, or will it reinforce bias and inequality? Technology is undoubtedly changing the world, but how do we ensure that change is for the better?

Join us for the second annual Skoll World Forum Debate in an unparalleled setting, the Oxford Union’s legendary debating chamber. Six silver-tongued provocateurs will engage in a lively British parliamentary-style debate on the motion, 'This house believes that "tech for good" is a false promise.'

This event is run by us, the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Oxford Union debating society, this is a quintessentially Oxonian experience and not to be missed!

Stay tuned for speaker announcements on speakers.
