Mastering the art of persuasion: Harness power and influence

About the event

When it comes to persuasion and influence, power is a familiar and often effective tool.

But how can we develop more confidence and strengthen our own power in a persuasive interaction while navigating – and sometimes neutralising – the power tactics of others?

Paul Fisher, the Programme Director of the Oxford Programme on Negotiation hosts this session to explore how a leader can draw on both legitimate and informal sources of power to mobilise support, shape decisions, and drive results.

Paul will also confront the challenge of handling negative or coercive power plays from stakeholders. Through practical, real-life scenarios, participants will understand how they can sharpen their personal influencing styles and learn to lead with credibility, awareness, and integrity in complex environments where power dynamics come to the fore. This session is ideal for all leaders, particularly female leaders and those committed to allyship.
