Join us to celebrate Professor Juliane Reinecke’s new book, and for an enriching discussion on democracy in global value chains.
In this seminar we will discuss Professor Juliane Reinecke’s new book Stitching Governance for Labour Rights: Towards Transnational Industrial Democracy? (Reinecke and Donaghey, 2023). In conversation with Dr Mahreen Khan (Oxford Martin School) and Miriam Neale (International Accord), we will discuss insights from this book, in the context of broader questions around equity, accountability and democracy in global value chains, and how to create real impact at scale.
Speakers:
- Professor Juliane Reinecke is an Associate Professor in International Business at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and an author of Stitching Governance for Labour Rights: Towards Transnational Industrial Democracy?
- Dr Mahreen Khan is the Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Development at the University of Oxford, and a Skoll Centre Early Career Research Fellow.
- Miriam Neale is a Senior Advisor at International Accord, which works with brands, factories, and workers for a safer garment and textile industry. She previously worked with the Bangladesh Accord and has over 15 years of experience working with companies and trade unions to secure workers’ rights in textile and food supply chains.
