About the event
Designed to bring together health care and innovation, merging those two concepts to create positive change for the global health sector.
The NHS is currently facing the biggest challenge in its existence.
While on a day-to-day basis most areas of the service are running perfectly well at present, there are already signs of the strain the system is under in areas such as hospital care, A&E and GP services. With an ageing population, lifestyle factors and rise costs, the NHS is driven to ensure patients get the right care in the right place. With staff having to deal with huge numbers of patients, and limited time it can be an incredibly stressful environment for everyone involved.
It is estimated that without radical changes to the way the system works, as demand rises, and costs rise too, the NHS will become unsustainable, with huge financial pressures and debts. If we make no changes we face a £30 billion funding gap for the NHS nationally by 2020.
So, what is the challenge? How to improve the patient experience in emergency and acute care. If the patients experience could be improved this would lead to improvements across the whole system.
The day will drive you thorough the design thinking process to design, prototype, test and fully scope innovative solutions to solve this challenge.
At the end of the day your team will present your solution to the rest of the group and a panel of judges who will choose the winner. There will be prizes awarded and the winning team will be invited to a winner’s event in London on 11 and 12 December.
