Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, in collaboration with Know+ is launching the Oxford Saïd Know+ Climate Change Challenge China region finals, inviting high school students and teachers across China to develop innovative solutions to tackle the world’s most pressing climate challenges.

The competition comes at a critical time. China has made remarkable progress in its commitment to combating climate change. For example, investments and efforts in green technology, such as renewable energy and electric vehicles, have not only helped reduce domestic carbon emissions but have also positioned the nation as a key global collaborator in the fight against climate change, according to International Energy Agency, 2024. However, challenges remain, including extreme weather events, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss.

The China region finals will be held in China in August 2025, with the winning student team and teacher advancing to the global finals. The student team will present their solutions at Saïd Business School while the winning teacher will showcase their lesson plan during COP30 in Brazil in November 2025. The winning student team and teacher in the global finals will be awarded fully-funded, in-person courses at Oxford, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study at the world’s top-ranked university.

China has shown what can be achieved through ambitious policies and collective action, but the fight against climate change is far from over.

  • Air pollution
  • Extreme weather events
  • Food security
  • Water scarcity
  • Biodiversity

Teachers, meanwhile, will submit individual entries in the form of detailed lesson plans on teaching climate change in their respective regions, with a focus on bridging the gap between education and action.
