Profile
Yunus is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School.
He specialises in Strategy and Entrepreneurial Finance under the guidance of Pinar Ozcan and Thomas Hellmann. His research explores impact investing and its potential to drive social and economic growth.
Prior to his doctorate, Yunus completed a Research Master in Strategy from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, and a double major in Economics and Management at Bogazici University. Yunus also leads the Oxford Sustainable Finance Student Society as a vice president.
Research
Yunus’ research interests center around sustainable finance and social entrepreneurship to understand the mechanisms through which organizations can contribute to social impact and economic growth simultaneously. His doctoral thesis examines the practices of impact-oriented venture capital firms and measures their impact on the ventures and communities they invest in.
His research uncovers two ways that impact-oriented venture capital firms create impact: indirectly, by making social ventures more attractive to non-impact investors at later stages, and directly, by enhancing their social performance through financial and non-financial support.
Yunus regularly reviews papers for the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society's conferences and has had the opportunity to present at 17 peer-reviewed conferences and seminars around the world during his doctoral studies.
