Violetta Splitter is an Associate Professor of Strategy at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Peter’s College, Oxford. Violetta joined the School in 2024.
She holds a PhD from the University of Zurich.

Research
Violetta’s research currently focuses on two main areas:
- Open strategy
- Organising as practice
Her open strategy research concerns the effects of widened participation in strategy making, mainly frontline employees, on organisational power relations and on more traditional forms of strategy development. Her research into organising as practice deals with advancing current understandings of organisational phenomena through the lens of practice theories.
Engagement
Violetta has served as an expert adviser on designing Open Strategy processes for internationally operating organisations, such as Zurich Insurance, AXA, and Roche. She has authored articles on this topic in the public media, such as a joint publication with the CEO of AXA UK & Ireland.
Teaching
Violetta teaches strategy and strategic management to undergraduates as well as on MBA and EMBA programmes. Violetta aims for an interactive style in her teaching to promote and practice strategic conversations as a vital skill for members of all levels within organisations and their stakeholders.
