Tony is a strategic marketing and innovation expert who has led the development and successful commercialisation of many new products in the pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare and food sectors. 

Most recently, Tony was the Sales and Marketing Director of infirst Healthcare, a pharmaceutical start-up. He led the pharmaceutical development, regulator filing and clinical research of new products in the cough, inflammatory pain and chronic wound categories. He built the sales and marketing teams, developing new brands before launching them into the pharmacy and healthcare markets, using a mixture or digital and traditional media to acquire new customers through e-commerce and retail channels.

He spent 14 years with GSK Consumer on both Rx-to-OTC switch programmes and oral care. He directed the pan-European launch of Sensodyne Rapid to block Colgate’s Sensitive Pro Relief introduction. He managed a pan-European programme to develop the gum health brands Corsodyl/Paradontax to >10% growth and brand leadership. He led the global innovation initiative, which resulted in the acquisition of Biotene for dry mouth sufferers.

Tony spent nine years working for Mars, the private snack-food business. He worked in a small team to create the new ice cream and drinks businesses, responsible for negotiating with external co-manufacturing partners, and developing the frozen and chilled supply chain. He went onto an international business development role, before becoming Marketing Director of the Italian subsidiary, where he was responsible for the launch of a new recipe Mars bar, miniatures and Skittles.

He has further developed his skills by teaching New Product Development for a number of years on a Master’s course, working with young entrepreneurs on their business plans, and he continues to work with start-ups coming out of Oxford University.

Tony has Natural Science degree from Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
