Profile

Pierre-Jean is a banker turned Fintech entrepreneur.

Leveraging his 10+ years international banking experience followed by a Sloan Fellowship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Pierre-Jean co-founded Sharepa, an online advisory platform that brings social computing to investment to provide stock sentiment analysis. As he has been very fortunate to rely on a solid network of mentors and advisors to go through various stages in his career, he feels it is his duty to 'give back' and help fellow entrepreneurs by being their 'thought partner'.

Currently, he sits on the Board of Advisors of three Fintech start-ups (Blockchain, lending and AI), advising them on business models, emerging technological trends, product and process development, and helping with introductions to banks and other start-ups. His areas of expertise are: platform strategy, partnership, operational effectiveness, as well as start-up storytelling, leveraging his experience as a coach at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Business School (Advanced Leadership Initiative Program).

He also serves as an expert and judge for different start-up competitions in the USA at MIT Delta V/GFSA, Harvard (HBS New Venture Competition) and MassChallenge; in Asia at Startupbootcamp Singapore and Chinaccelerator Shanghai. He is also a regular speaker on Fintech and entrepreneurship. Keen to support entrepreneurship education and the next generation of entrepreneurs, he also lectures in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Fashion Business School – London College of Fashion.

Prior to MIT, Pierre-Jean was the Head of Private Wealth Client Segment and Chief of Staff to the COO at HSBC Private Bank. Over the course of his 10 years in banking in London, Singapore and Geneva, he held various management positions in private banking, led front-office and back-office transformation projects (IT, Risk Management, HR and Operations) and worked with C-level executives across the bank on strategy and business (IT-fuelled) transformation programmes. He is also the co-founder of IDDEA, the first early-stage start-up contest and training programme in French-speaking Switzerland to support its regional development, which is in its fifth year now.

Pierre-Jean earned his MBA as a Sloan Fellow from MIT (USA). He also holds a Bachelor degree in Management Science from the University of Liège (Belgium), a Master's degree in Marketing Management from Vlerick Business School (Belgium) and a Master in International Economics and Management from SDA Bocconi (Italy).
