Profile

Laurence Cranmer is Director of Woodgreen Consulting Limited.

Laurence has experience of providing management consulting support for companies, central government departments and public sector organisations. This seeks to combine: rigorous analysis, clear and considered advice on options, complex problem solving and issue resolution, implementation programme management, building working relationships with multiple stakeholders, and practical support for senior leaders, managers and operational teams. Current consulting support he provides includes on ESG (environmental, social and governance) and sustainability.

Clients have included: Hellios Information Limited; Rolls-Royce plc; Highways England; H J Heinz Co Ltd; Buying Solutions, Office of Government Commerce, HM Treasury; Ministry of Defence; Metropolitan Police Service; Joint Research Office, University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; Pan-Caribbean Partnership Against HIV/AIDS, in Guyana.

Laurence has been an associate at Atos Consulting and an executive consultant in the Public Services Group at KPMG Consulting.

He has been a senior lecturer at the Civil Service College, where he directed courses on strategic leadership and organisational change. He has lectured part-time in the social sciences at the Open University and Oxford Polytechnic.

He has a BA(Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Research

Laurence has a research interest in ESG and sustainability, including the responsibilities of directors.

Laurence is author/co-author of several working papers, including conference/seminar papers and a journal article. He has co-written/co-taught part of an MSc module, International Business Ethics, at Birkbeck, University of London.

At Saïd Business School, Laurence co-organised an informal business ethics discussion group that included researchers and practitioners. He was a member of the Oxford-Achilles Working Group on Corporate Social Responsibility for five years.
